ntroduction of GREP Series |
The GREP Series is a new and halogen-free type
flame- retardant system for thermoplastics.
GREP Series is a combination of GREP-EG (improved thermally
expandable graphite) and other materials, RINKA(stabilized red
phosphorus), APP(ammonium polyphosphate),and etc.

Characteristics |

GREP Series allows you to produce excellent flame retardant
polymer compounds of high oxygen indices and rated to
UL-94 V0. GREP Series gives the opportunity of flame-retardant
polymer compound with good mechanical properties.
GREP Series-containing polymer compounds do not produce
any corrosive gas in fire or when heated. Smoke is also
suppressed.

Mechanism |

GREP Series shows high performance of flame retardancy
by combining two different effects.
One is due to the physical effect of expandable graphite
and the other is due to the chemical effect of phosphoric
chemicals by way of example red phosphorus and ammonium
polyphosphate. Expandable graphite-containing polymer
compounds expands like a fiber when in fire or when
heated. The expanded graphite covers the surface of
the molten phase and protects from the heat of fire.
This performance is directory depends on the expansion
of graphite.
This expansion of graphite is proportional to its distributions
of particle size.
Flame retardant mechanisms of phosphoric chemicals
are well known by literatures of authors that phosphoric
chemicals reduce the flammability of the polymer compounds
by reacting chemically in the molten phase.

Precaution |
|
Recommended to use a single screw kneader. If a twin
screw kneader is used, screw composition should be set
for mild kneading.
Do not use mesh(screen pack).
Smashed GREP-EG will lead to a degradation of the flame
retardancy |
